*Sigh* I love this series. It is one of my favorite Motorcycle Hotties series. I adore JC Emery's men, and she always has fantastic leading ladies.
Rev picks up where Thrash leaves off. This is another thing I really like about this series. There is no huge time gap, and all of the books just flow together like they could have been all one book. There is just enough back story to "remind" you of what happened in the previous books, but not so much that you feel like you are reading the same book over and over again. The plot just flows from book to book. And although there hasn't been a solution to the "situation" that started in book one, there is no cliffhangers and you don't feel like anything is missing. The book is tied up nicely and also sets up the next book, which Iam seriously hoping is Jeremy aka Baby Boy and Cheyenne (Grady's Daughter). I loved them as side characters and I really really want to know their story, because reading Rev lets you know that something is going on...
Now, lets talk about Grady. Oh my-- can we say Lush?? I loved him. He was a total jerk, and he did not care if you thought he was. I think he actually tried to be as big of a jerk as he could be - like it was his life's mission. But, you discover he has a soft side, that when coaxed, comes out. He really surprised me with the way he would do things and the things that he found important. When he was all in, he was all in. And when he wanted something, he took it. And it did not matter what he had to do in order to get it. And although he came across as not caring about anything other than himself, turned out to be selfless.. he was amazing.
Holly... freaking loved her. She was sassy, smart and self sufficient. She was recovering from a bad situation, and decided to move back home and live with her friend in order to get back on top of her game. She didnt take crap from anyone, but she was always sweet about it, and her snarkiness made me want to cheer her on sometimes. She was not about to cave to anyone, including Grady. But what she didn't know was her smart mouth, her attitude and her willingness to throw a rant and stand up for herself, had Grady on his knees. Yet, she wants nothing to do with him. I mean, come on, the county's top cops daughter dating the towns outlaw motorcycle clubs sergeant in arms??? Yeah, not a good idea. But we don't control who we fall in love with do we??
The side characters in Rev were just as good as the main ones. Cheyenne, Grady's daughter, was very prominent and I really am hoping her story gets told. She was a huge part of Grady, and the way he is with her blew me away. This rough and tough tattooed bad boy, goes all mushy when it comes to his girl.
The Manusco's are still causing trouble. I really like the way the author has brought this plot through all of the books, yet I have not gotten tired of it and thought "OMG, can we just get on with it already. It's time to wrap this up." It has just flowed through, and we get a bonus bad guy in this one, that changes things and Im really anxious to see how it plays out. Because now Im wondering who the bad guys really are.
Rev is a perfect addition to the Bayonet Scars series. And I am now anxious to get my hands on the next one!!! I was begging for Jeremy's story after Thrash... and Iam begging for Jeremy's story again-- Please please please let Jeremy's story be next!!!!
If Robert Rodriquez (Sin City), Tony Soprano, and David Lynch (Twin Peaks) made sweet love to a Hawaiian version of The Bride (Uma Thurman’s character from Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill), the resulting spawn might look like Kendall Grey’s upcoming mystery/suspense/supernatural thriller, HOT-BLOODED.
